kind of funny lots of folks figure most mechanics race or do some sort of wrenching as a hobby,you dont see a plumber or garbage man doing his trade as a hobby,me it pays the bills I did the race car thing the project car,side jobs..as I am about to hit 50 years old I cherish my time off from running the shop,I enjoy the job but that is what it is a job.

the roads suck here and it blows 50-75 mph cross winds here in wyoming,my vote is look at your struts/shocks if they have lost their dampening you could be blown all over the road and it wont handle bumps at all.

How old is the t-stat,sounds like it is not opening-sometimes new doesnt mean good had a few out of the box that were crap.also look for coolant flow,we had a impeller break off pump pulley turned but no flow.

Seafoam is pretty good for the price,tough jobs cheveron techron or if you have a few more$$ B&G 44k

I left the retail life 13 years ago and went to fleet maint first with united airlines now with a state college fleet,it is a totally different atmosphere good steady pay you get to know all the vehicles very well. I maintain in a 1 guy shop 80 vehicles from trucks,buses ,heavy equipment, and about 80 pieces of small equipment…not a bad gig plus retirement and good benefits.

I was in the same boat 22 years ago,how I changed that situation is I got the hell out of the corporate goodyear shop I was in and went to work for a small independent shop,me and the owner and his wife thats it,I learned more and did more in 2 years there than 10 years any where else.

that year bronco I think had a 2.8 with solid lifters and adjustable valves,they could be quite noisy.
