Thanks I’ll do that. There’s definitely a trick to those belts for first timers
When installing a new belt tensioner does the new one need to be primed some how?
The reason I ask is the new belt and tensioner is installed but theres no tension on the belt. This car actually has 2 belt designs that I wasn’t aware of. First belt
was half inch to long I now have correct belt measured it with old belt after exchanging it from napa. I followed the belt diagram and it seems correct but I could be
wrong. Tensioner seems fine it’s not sloppy or anything like that nice and firm.
Any ideas is very much appreciated
Thank you S:)
I’ve had luck soaking rusty things in vinegar. Vinegar softens it right up and most of the time it wipes off or sanding some light sand paper helps
Thanks I may have to give them a try.
Thank you
Thank you
Thanks for the replies. I’m not changing it at 3000 miles was just curious what others thought, and wasn’t sure if 7 months was to long.
Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I’m gonna have to replace the whole pipe. A parts guy told me the exhaust is 1 7/8 in. and there not made in that size.
I’ve found a few that may work. I’ve never measured exhaust pipes before are they measured by inside diameter? Would I measure the inside of the tail pipe where the muffler is?
Thank you
Thanks. I’m defiantly going to give this a try
This part is from napa for about $40.00 Could I have a shop cut the old piece out and weld or clamp this in place instead of buying the whole pipe?
Thank you
The leak is coming from the flex pipe on that woven metal thing. I’ll have to find a torch for removing those rusty bolts.
Thank you for all the help
I’ve gathered the evidence and it’s pointing to a exhaust leak. I compared my car with my friends hyundai. Stuck my hand over my grand am’s muffler and had a very hard time keeping it there from the pressure and no noise. The hyundai it was effortless holding my hand over it and when I did i heard a loud hissing sound. Stuck a shirt in the muffler and traced the noise some where by the exhaust manifold or possibly that gasket where the tail pipe begins.
This may sound kind of silly but could I use smoke bombs the kind from july 4 or have someone smoke a cigar and blow the smoke up the exhaust to locate the leak? Any ideas will be appreciated.
Thank you for all the help I really appreciate it
Forgot to mention it has been on for a week went away sunday came back tuesday or monday.
