I’ve got a similar problem with my mercury marquis 1994. My tail lights are out & speed odomer light.( could they be related?) The headlights, turn signals, hazard lights & brakes light work. I had a problem w/ ants in my car, I wonder if they mess the wiring? I’ve check the fuses, relay, all bulbs been changed, but both lights out. I have a 12 vol meter, no sure where to begin to find bad wire. I thought about the dimmer switch but, everything thing else is working.

I’ve cut sandpaper into a strip enough to wrap the nut like a Band-Aid, then Using a vice grips( u can get ones that are tiny, great for clamps). It’s worked for me. The sandpaper grips the nut while the vice grips turn it. Good luck.

so true… I expected being teased & treated like I was an dummy. There being many times I’ve been working on my car & a man will come up to me, asking … what are u doing?, do u know what ur doing? Don’t u have a man to help u? Go find a mechanic.( ask me out) hit on while I’m trying to work on my car. I live in the south, Most men 70% act that way, the other 30% ( nice guys)ask to help me.( even if they have no clue. lol)
I had a ex who was changing his spark plugs wire out. well he pull them at once then couldn’t figure out how to put back on. He gave up & told me good luck. an hour later I figure it out( first time).
Boy he was piss at me…I know I’m swimming up stream without a paddle, but I enjoy working on cars. Men like that make want learn more, I hate being told I can’t do something. 🙂

I’m started school learn to be a mechanic ( two weeks), I’ve done some work my car before serpine belt, radiator, oil change breaks, ect. The other day I got a ticket for tail lights out. I checked the fuses, relay & replaced blown bulbs. Of course on the way to police station my tail lights when out, again.( I think it’s a electric problem or dimmer switch) The cop started on me how dangerous it was to drive that way & I was a danger to the public. I told him just came from the auto store & show him my receipt of new bulbs. He told me find a real mechanic, & let a man do it. If he wasn’t a cop I would have give a piece of my mind. Why would u be so rude? I’m single mother try to make by myself. I enjoy taking things apart & figure out problems.

when my ex painted his car, he & I used sandpaper to even the surface & make a clean surface. With the rust I would even & get it smooth before painting, other wise ur going see all the imperfections. I’m not sure if the spray paint will match. U can get the match paint at the auto store. hope this helps. U might want to use a clear coat to seal the paint. Good luck.
