      I hope I’m not hijacking too hard, but what about going to an unassisted steering rack? It helps for simplicity’s sake down the line, if the engineering aspect is sound enough, and the maintenance is severely reduced. Obviously this would only be for lighter cars, and maybe the gearing will still have to be set to a different ratio, but I always figured the kind of cars I like to drive can afford to lose their power steering.

        I want to express more desire for this kind of video to be made. TL;DR is that I cast another vote for this.

        I started thinking about this when I had to choose brake pads to buy; It feels like it’s all just hearsay and personal anecdotes, which means a whopping YMMV on every selection of pads. I know your caliper service guide mentions the material type, but then there’s brand, and even then, (wearever, for example) there can be multiple versions/prices for the same brand, and both can be ceramic or what have you.

          This is exciting. How do you decide on the gear ratio of the differential? For that matter, how would you decide the ratios of your transmission, had you not the simple choice of that popular 5-speed?
