I checked that site but I don’t see a diagram covering this particular area. Looks like I’ll have to wait until the manual I ordered shows up. Thanks!

thanks. Do you happen to know where I can get a copy of the wiring diagram for this car on the internet? Hopefully for free? I have a repair manual on order but that will probably take while to get here.

No luck! I am sure I followed the procedure exactly but the light still would not reset. WIth the key off, I pushed both buttons in, turned the key on and I held the buttons in for at least 30 seconds and probably closer to a minute. The light flashed once but then stayed on. Any other ideas? I am wondering if maybe one of the buttons isn’t working. Any way to test their functions without taking a lot of stuff apart? I don’t have a wiring diagram for the car yet but I do have a repair manual on order. Thanks again!

Thanks. This is the procedure that is detailed in the manual and I believe I followed it correctly. But, in listening to the audio, it sounds like the buttons made a noise when he pressed them. Are they supposed to make a latching sound like that? I’ll try this again tomorrow. Thank you again for helping us.

thanks, I’ll give that a try. any ideas as to why the problem only shows up at start-up and not every time then?

                            Eric:

Our Explorer has been running normally since the last episode. Since this happens only every now and then, can you think of any specific things I should try to looks at if I am in the vehicle the next time it happens: engine sounds, RPM changes, etc? I would appreciate any advice you can give me on this. As you noted in your last reply to my topic, this is going to be a tough one!

                            Thanks,
                            Monte

You could be right! We bought this vehicle used in 2010 and, to be honest, it hadn’t been tuned up since we’re had it and who knows how long it had been before we got it. As part of trying to fix this issue, after this most recent episode, we took it back to the dealership and had a complete tune-up done: plugs, wires, filters, etc. Since then, it’s been running perfectly… but since we’ve only had the problem show up twice since 2010…. we’ll just keep driving it and keep our fingers crossed! Thanks for your reply! If you think of anything else, please be sure to let me know!
