These replies are just what I am looking for my boss thinks you can take an 11 week online course to get these certs. Pretty much from what I read getting that many ASE certs is similar to getting your ba or aa degree. The ASE told me that the test were designed first and foremost from hands on experience. book learning is great but does not mean you can turn a wrench. If I can get some more input I would greatly appreciate all of your advice. I do need a lot more education but want it to be reasonable.

We work on a little bit of everything garbage trucks, fire trucks, several ford trucks diesel and regular, police cars. Then all the small motors chain saws edgers weed eaters. A lot of welding and fabricating of several items. Best of all we also maintain a draw bridge.

I absolutely love my job something different every day just very concerned they are asking for so many ase certifications for someone that is not the lead mechanic.
