Does any one know what it means when you start your car and it idles upto and in between 2000 and 2500 rpm??? But after the initial start…it dies down to normal. My Altima does this and one of my bosses car’s does it as well and its a Nissan X-Terra…is this a Nissan thing?? I noticed that her check engine light is on but mine isn’t.
Usually on a cold start you should see 12-1500 rpm’s not 2-2500
I would scan the car and see if any freeze frame data exists. As
for the bosses car plug in the scanner and pull the codes.

http://www.ericthecarguy.com/faq/solving-automotive-idle-problems%5B/quote%5D gonna scan it up as soon as I get one thanks college man!!!
By the sound of it you might have a vacuum leak. I’d be checking into that. As College man pointed out, the fast idle should be more in the 1200 rpm range, not 2000. The article he posted should have info on how to check for vacuum leaks as well as other information that might be helpful to you. Keep us posted.
okay so I rigged up a propane torch with a high-pressure hose, then took off the shield over the fuel inj/camshaft case and started my car. I turned on the tank aiming it all over every hose that looked even remotely connected to the intake manifold or the air intake and…..nothing  sooo idk lol

Hey Outofgas, I seen in your post that your friend has had a HF air impact and was curious about the brand. I know they have central pneumatic, earthquake as well as one that is just titled twin hammer. Really wanting to get one for cheap that’ll last until I get into school. Kudos on the DMC btw!!!

Okay so I jacked up my car and isolated both tires(one at a time) with a pry bar. The noise is coming from the passenger side soooo when I block the passenger side, POOF! the noise stops. When I stop the noisy side the noise stops. I really am thinking bad bearing but the symptoms just weren’t present. Thank you both for the information and sorry for a borderline rhetorical question….guess I just wanted reassurance lol.
