I would replace with ones that were already in the engine, but for me NGK is my favorite.

I was looking for silicone paste as well, but the stores didn’t have it, but they did have a product called Sil Glyde which is the same thing. I got mine at advance auto but I believe they sell them at napa, autozone and oreilly as well.

It is not necessary to use genuine honda coolant. I have a 1999 Honda civic and I use non honda coolant and it’s been working fine for years. But this video may help with your problem:

I have a 2007 Odyssey. I was at the honda dealer for some recall service and he saw the transmission code on my maintenance minder and asked if I wanted my transmission serviced. I told him I was doing it myself. He said whatever I do, do not have the transmission flushed because the the contaminants could get loose and damage the transmission. He said just do a simple drain and refill.

I didn’t think the problem transmissions involved the 1996-2000 ciivics. I have a 1999 civic lx. I put more tha 225k miles on it with no transmission problems.ayne I was fortunate.

What you can do is attach a scanner and see if there are any previous history of codes.

I am curious as well. I heard the torque converters in those transmission were weak. I wonder if that might have had something to do with it.
