        Thank you!

What are the chances of much gas getting sucked up into the engine because of the faulty pump? I have been driving to and from work the last month which is five or take 15 miles each way.

Got her back this morning and she’s running solid. The issue should be fixed 🙂

They sell headgasket sealer on amazon, or at walmart! Im sure parts stores have them, around 80 bucks for a bottle though!

@Ericthecar guy, thank you for replying and thank you all for the replies. a long time ago it was rebuilt before I owned it. It’s the original, im currently pondering investing into a new carb altogether though. Here’s the kicker though. It was my plug wires. two of them had gone bad. As i pulled one to check and the metal insert came off, and i discovered another while changing them one by one. Misfire gone, truck is back in action!

@jotmon1 The timing doesnt seem to be the issue here, and I am thinking it’s backfiring through the exhaust.

I will most likely be getting some oil treatment for it soon, im also planning on getting dual exhaust installed, it’s already straight piped, so that should drown out the noises (Just being sarcastic there) Really am getting dual exhaust though :p

First off, i would like to thank both of you. @Astrosonic, yes I am getting peace of mind for sure.
Yes, i do believe pre ignition is a factor because i am almost certain my timing is advanced. A while back my manifolds were glowing due to retarded timing so just as a quick fix, I loosened the distributor and timed it by ear. I also messed with it the other night which caused a misfire going uphills so i set it back to where it was. and it seemed to fix it. I know its not proper but until i can get it a carb tuneup and an all over tuneup itll have to do! the Carb needs adjusting bad!! It has a wonky idle and its even still low with my timing the way it is. Idk how to adjust the carb so im afraid to haha. But my mechanic said with these older fords the noise is normal. And not necessarily bad at all.

And you are right, 300’s last a long long time if you treat them well. And that’s all im trying to do. I love this truck so very much, and would hate to have a major hiccup happen at the moment.

UPDATE: Took it to a mechanic where i live and he said nothing seemed off color, and he womped on the throttle a good amount and said nothing seemed wrong. Just an old inline six! so that puts me at ease.

I had my engine gone through a few weeks ago, because i had the radiator replaced. And they said the engine looked fine and nothing lead them to any other problems. Could be a burnt valve, could be a fair amount of things i suppose :/

Hello all! And thank you for the replies @Bluesnut, i am not confident to set ignition timing on my own so i will have the shop here do that.

And @Evil-i My temp gauge reads under halfway usually about 30 – 40 percent when idling and 20 & when driving. I just had the cooling system replaced, New radiator, thermostat and hoses maybe 3 weeks ago.
