I have a 3 Ton Craftsman Professional that is around 9-10 years old. It’s been a great jack, but I wish it had a little more travel than 20″ it has.

IMO, drive the Camry until you’re out of college or it dies. I had a cheap Ford Ranger 4 cylinder/5 speed that got me through college and then I kept it another 4-5 years after that. Now once I got out of college, I bought a brand new 2003 Mach 1 Mustang (1st new car ever). 🙂 Keep those grades up, land a good job, and worry about the car later.

[quote=”EricTheCarGuy” post=103253]If the valve cover gasket is new and not gooped up with RTV then you should be able to reuse it just fine.
I have a detailed VManual on that engine that you might find helpful.

Bummer Eric. I bought this as a cheap beater to drive back & forth to work instead of my truck. I guess it was cheap for a reason… So, with only 111k miles, you think it’s that far gone? It doesn’t smoke any, and has good power.
I’m guessing the timing belt has never been changed, but how can I tell since I have the valve cover off already? Here is a pic of what I can see.

Or buy a used OEM at a junkyard or EBay and replace the boots before I install them?
