the chain tensioner would be on the front of the block behind a aluminum cover behind all the pullys.. because it is a chain that links the crankshaft to the camshaft. as for the rear end vibration, i would start at the tires by looking them over for any damage from wear or age and possibly getting them rebalanced.

and to be sure.. the “security” light goes out on your dash if you leave it in run for a moment, seeing you probably have a PATS key? otherwise no clicking would probably mean your starter solenoid is gone, which is dangerous to test without one of these or something similar http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/infinitichris/2008-04-06_140001_remotestarterswitch.jpg by turning the key to run and jumping the 2 contacts on the starter solenoid with a screw driver wile your holding the pastic/rubber handle while wearing gloves prefably to see if it starts.

that would probably be the cause yes but depending on age and any possible rust their may be a underlying cause, so id check over everything else in the drum(springs, e-brake cable, brake cylinder, ect) to make sure its functioning properly. as you go to replace it, and possibly even bleeding new fluid into the lines while your at it?

I would like to add that if you feel better safe than sorry a siphon used on a cold engine might be a bit easier so you don’t have to crawl under and worry about fumbling the drain plug and having to readd any extra you might remove.

maybe also look to make sure no pullys were damaged from the alternator and make sure your downpipes bolts are tight and maybe listen in on your cat and make sure none of the media is broken?

maybe try and see if the K&N filter used on the kit fits your current duct work then buy the kit later? would never hurt to have 2 filters seeing you wouldn’t be immobilized if your in the process of cleaning one that way 😛

all really depends on how close your crank comes to dipping into your oil too because too much and the crank can dip in it and whip the oil. but you should probably be fine with your 1/16 inch over max

i plan to get one myself one day, if nothing else id imagine it would prove very useful for speeding up a tire change on the side of the road..
