They hit the nail on the head. this definitely sounds like an extreme case of the blown plenum gasket. If I were you I’d get a hughes plenum repair kit. I personally believe the steel pan is to blame, not bolt length, but the kit fixes both as far as I kn
Just for future reference, most Caprices of that generation with ABS have a badge reading “ABS” above the left rear tail light I believe.
Finally went and got myself an OBDII scanner, and even though my CEL is gone it’s stored a P0307
Yeah I’m saving up for a Hughes kit now, not sure if I mentioned that or not. I’ve done enough research to know that fixing just the gasket isn’t going to cut it.
The truck started making some new sounds, and I feel that one may be related as it’s definitely coming from the rear end. Any time the wheels are turned more than a little to the left, a creaking sound is heard which I’m pretty sure is a bad ball joint. H

Oh I know, sometimes when people think they know how to fix a problem, even when there’s no evidence there is no stopping them from trying and often making things worse!
I didn’t mean to imply that I was just going to go change it right away. By look into it I meant that I would do whatever test would tell me if it was bad or not.
Indeed. Once the plenum gasket is repaired, if it continues, I’m going to look into the speed sensor. I know somebody with a 98 Neon and a speed sensor went bad, causing the entire car to buck forward and back when the speedometer was held at a given spee
