I could be wrong, but I thought the fuel filter was usually right after the pump.
EDIT: On your truck it seems to be on the driver side frame rail right under the driver door.
Does it ever sort of “grab” and jolt forward when accelerating from a stop?

The filter should be inside the tank.

Thanks alot.

Well back in better economic times, this truck enjoyed being over-maintained. We’re talking a full fluid flush every 10,000 miles, with an oil change every 3,000. I credit its 255,000 miles to that. I’ll check the manual, thanks for all the help.

My first idea is to ask you to please stop typing in all caps. It’s hard to read and makes it seem like you are screaming.
Secondly I believe that either 1) your pump is going out, 2) or another pulley is out of adjustment. Theres a self adjusting pulley on some (maybe all- not sure) engines that when it gets out of adjustment, it makes a godawful loud screeching sound, even worse than a power steering pump would. As you said its much louder, so I’m leaning towards the latter.

My/my dad’s truck has had the fluid changed regularly for most of its’ life, but for the last year I do not know if it’s been changed at all, and that is a year of being driven 5-600 miles per week or more. I’ll see if I can find a record of the last change, but if it’s been 50,000 miles as it may have been, should I let it be?

Thanks. I’ll start looking for oil leaks then.
