I forgot to mention we replaced plug wires too. Could it be possible a O2 sensor (upstream) could cause a miss? or could it be possible that the central coil is starting to go out and how would I go about testing the coil? I want to do as much diag as I can and not just fire off the parts canon.
Hi I am a rookie in the automotive field and one of my team mates at the shop I work at for light service/repair told me to put high millage oil in my Subaru since it’s got 192k on the clock. It has or had at least one oil leak that I believe I have fixed (valve cover gaskets just got replaced) and from personal experience I don’t want to put synthetic in to his engine until all the seals and gaskets have been replaced. What does high mileage oil really do in my engine? To my knowledge the engine has run conventional oil all of it’s life. I stick with 5w30 since that’s what the manufacture calls for. Also the whole weight/viscosity is still a bit confusing to me. I hear that the “W” is “WINTER” or others say it’s “WEIGHT” like if it’s for winter it keeps the viscosity of 30 in 5 below temps. It’s just really confusing to my brain. Sorry if this post is a bit long.

Just got done watching your video. I have one of those tiny yelpers in my shop who thinks he’s the end all be all…I don’t mind it for the most part since I am a beginner and the new guy in the shop. But for the one saying how your illegal with your lighting system on your element, he’s just jealous he don’t have it on his ride and you do. Its fully legal and if it wasn’t I am pretty sure a law enforcement officer would have pulled you over to tell you about it anyway. Done let them get you down. I enjoy all you’re videos and I am always learning something from them. Just like how I am going to be working on my Subaru brakes soon, I am copying you with all the tools needed. Well that’s all I really wanted to say before I get off topic.

Sorry Eric, didn’t even realize what I did till just now. My bad. Had a lot on my mind and when I made the suggestion I wasn’t really thinking about it. 🙂

Hey Eric, Been meaning to make this suggestion for a while. It’s about your live show. Google’s hangout’s they have is not vary good quality for both audio/video and it’s easily killed. I think it would be better for your viewers if you went on Justin.tv instead. They have better stream capability and you don’t go off line randomly. Can’t wait to see what happens in 14 with you and your channels!

My question is WHY..You can squeeze more power out of a V-8 and have about the same fuel economy. Especially if you twin turbo it. The Veyron’s engine is a one of a kind, they used titanium connecting rods with aluminum pistons. It’s pushing 4 turbo’s…As for the convertible I strongly recommend not putting this monster your building of an engine in that. It’s not structurally safe for that. This is just my two cent’s though. Good luck with it!

Sorry for not replying sooner. Been busy with work and talking to family. Well the family I was talking to is my new aunt and getting to know her better. Found out she’s a gear head like me and I talked to her about this issue along with other techs on FB. Well I discovered that I do in fact have a 15.9 gallon tank and that it’s a saddle style. I also discovered that due to it’s style in a wagon with AWD I can’t drop the tank without dropping first the exhaust and then rear diff. So I found out I have two panels under neath my carpet in the wagon. I discovered to day that my secondary sending unit is dead, I followed Eric’s video from the Crown vic on checking the resistance of the unit. The reading was all over the place to non existent. That tells me the unit is toast. I know my primary unit is functioning since my gauge does read full when I fill the tank, but reads E when the primary unit does. I found out from the same tech that told me where to look that the computer reads the signals in sequence and then sends that signal to the gauge it’s self. So long story short I need a new secondary sending unit. To answer College Man’s question it’s about upper 40’s and 50’s during the day and as cold as in the 20’s or so. My aunt had suggested that their could be like half a tank of sludge built up but when I took the unit’s out and did my checks the tank looked super clean. I could see through the gas to the bottom no problem. Oh and my Scooby is a 5 speed stick. I can’t stand auto’s. On initial start up the engine holds a rev of about 1500 then after like 1-2 minutes it drops to 1k and then 900 then a normal idle. But around the 1k the engine makes a unique sound of like slapping and the hood vibrates. But after that it goes away. I have done basic maintenance of oil changes every 3k or so (conventional oil of 5w-20), did plugs but no wires, air filter, CTS, used alternator 3 weeks after I got the car, then a new radiator, and now new fuel filter. So the next things for me to do are head gaskets and a timing belt kit. But I am saving that for tax returns. Another thing I will have to at some point address is new front axles, I discovered that both outer cv boots are torn u.u So thanks for all your input and once I get the sending unit replaced I will fill the tank and then report back on how far on a tank I can get before I have to fill again. I should get at least 200 miles between tanks of gas.
