Today I found the time to properly test the cylinder compression with a gauge. Turned out all cylinders ran at around 9.6 to 10 bars, except for cylinder 5, which ran on 4.5.
There’s your problem π

I am sure with proper insurance and perhaps general oversight while operating lifts such business models would pick up like wildfire. Since the wife is trying to convince me to move back home with her (she’s from the South y’all ^^) I might look into it then.

How odd, usually you guys are so business savvy π
Rental garages are usually former chain garages or dealerships that went into chapter 11. A lot of times a couple of guys will take them over and rent out a lift with air tools and so forth usually for well below 10 bucks per hour. Very nice. I just spent the better part of the afternoon servicing a 1983 Jeep CJ5 258, got 2 cans of brake cleaner, wd40, anti rust, and lots of additional tools and such. Paid 25 bucks for the tools and materials and 35 bucks for 4 hours of lift time. Loved it π

Hi Sunset,
As far as I know, the A650E does not have an open overflow valve, at least I didn’t see any. There are two valves just above the A/T, however, those are the rear coolant flush valves for exchanging the coolant on the car.
I am fairly certain the overfill was going on for at least 6mths to a year, as I had checked the fluid levels on this car before and it constantly was too high. I told my parents repeatedly to at least drain or better flush out the system but they kept forgetting.
In any case, the gaskets look to hold up, the symptom hasn’t reoccurred in a few weeks now.
Cheers

A quick word on cheap OBD2 scanners / OBD2 to USB plugs.
I had a scanner before and I really liked it, but well, clumsy me, it didn’t last forever. So I decided to get myself one of them newfangled USB devices, perhaps get a little more out of the testing, I thought, new software and features, I thought. Enough said, bought one for about 20 USD from ebay. When I tried it out on our IS300, the only thing that connector di was to blow the OBD fuse in the passenger side compartment. Took me a while to find it too.
So I got myself a USD / OBD2 connector designed by a German TUEV engineer, for about 15 times the price, and it worked. You always get what you pay for I guess π
