Quick little update.
Today I got a little bit of time to work on the rabbit.
Pretty much finished with the pillar post, I also took off the two fenders today and found someone has packed a couple holes in them full of filler.
They are pretty much crap so I think I’m going to buy new ones or good used ones if i can find them instead of spending hours fixing these ones.from my experience its better off to buy a good used fender/wing and respraying it yourself rather than buy an after market one where there is a beyond obvious difference in quality,well there is here in the U.K.
what are your plans for the alloys? there not too bad but maybe sell them off to put some funds in the piggy bank, i would recommend getting some Ats cup alloys.. look so good on old VW’s.
Looking good so far well done, Good luck and keep the updates coming!!
May 16, 2012 at 11:00 am in reply to: moral of the story… always check the wheels nuts and get breakdown cover #449511thanks for the reply’s guys,
@Trcustomes719, yes the golf’s “fine” so far the damage is a front valance, n/s/f hub, ball joint, wish bone, front wings , bonnet and bumper,slam panel and wheels… seeing as i’m skint broke atmo i got the parts of a vw club member in exchange for a recon gti 16v engine.. good deal i think.
@spellunkerd, your right, insurance wouldn’t of prevented the near death experience but it would of help had things gotten worse.. insurance is mandatory here in the U.K but in my opinion they’re there to screw you… on the other hand i only really buy insurance incase i hit anyone else , should they get injured or worse, my insurance is there to financially help out.
@Md1032, this has certainly shown me why breakdown cover is a must… for around half the price of the one recovery i could have full 12 month breakdown cover…thanks again guys
April 1, 2012 at 11:00 am in reply to: Looking at my spark plugs, would you say Im burning a lot of oil? PICS INCLUDED #448816i had the same problem ages ago, as in the electrodes have white deposits usually a sign of overheating and a lean mixture, i tested the emissions and the mixture to find it was correct so i fixed it by using upgraded plugs use the link;

i can confirm that johncarz is right you would need at least 120 psi at minimum to start i (been a vw mk2 golf owner for around 7 years now)….before i try to help you could you verify;
timing is correct (we all make mistakes),
which engine is is it?
before renewing the headgasket was the cylinder head skimmed and pressure tested?
if you dont have a spark or fuel issue does the manifold pre heater work?
if it does run, do you have any bubbling in the coolant?
did you bleed the cooling system beforehand?early mk1’s did suffer from engine cracking but when they did it was obvious.
- if you do suspect a crack in the engine and unable to pressurize the sytsem with tools or by cranking try this;
with the engine switched off and spark plugs removed, fill the coolant to the max and re-cap tightly, and by hand; pump the pipes for about ten minutes inspecting the the cylinders and around the engine for leakage and check if the coolant level drops (this might not be accurate for hair line cracks but will work for severe cracks).
i spoke with yoyomax, she said the marydoodles got “liked” by KassomG (an idiot with a heck load of followers!), so that how her votes shot up because some of his fans voted for her, and i’m no cheat…… but as for Double voting you can vote seperatly using different internet browsers i.e internet explorer,Google chrome…..
i didn’t need to clear cookies or change IP addresses, maybe its different here in the u.k, voted twice using chrome and Explorer
