I was wondering if that would be coming since you were doing so much work on the 4 Runner. I can’t believe how much of a help this website is Eric. You’ve definitely created a great resource.

      Thanks so much!

Nah, no heavy duty towing for me. The Taco is just a little 4 cylinder regular cab. I do take it off the beaten path occasionally for hunting, but nothing that would qualify as extreme driving. Thank you for the advice though. Looks like I’ve got awhile before anything needs to be done.

Ok here is an update on the situation. We’ve had a fair amount of rain around good ol Kansas City and I spent the weekend hunting. Engaged 4×4 lo several times while out in the muddy fields and by the end of the weekend it kicks in immediately.

I’m also undertaking a new weekend resto project of a 1967 Mustang. Planning on taking the original straight six out and dropping in a 351 Windsor. I’ll be sure to post some pics along the way!

I am definitely going to do that. I was told yesterday evening by a friend of mine who has owned several Tacomas that 4×4 low has a bit of a break in period. Thanks for the advice!
