Similar issue on my 00 tiburon. I’m leaning towards a differential bearing. Of course, swap tires around and see if the noise follows.
I was using a roll pin punch, but without the pins being lined up it wouldn’t punch them through. I used a pickle fork to wedge the shift lever off, then punched them out separately. Replaced with a 3/16 bolt and hopefully wont have this issue again! On a test drive, I was furious to find out the car would not go into reverse. Started checking the linkages then noticed the spring on the shifter’s shaft, pulled up on the knob and well.. it went into reverse with ease. Felt like and idiot. But all is well. Appreciate the help!
For obvious reasons, fuses are the first things to check. I’d say this diagram is rather close to your vehicle, so you wouldn’t be getting power to the whole control unit.

Check the fuse panel in the engine cabin. In fact I would check all of them, the diagrams usually don’t help too much with cluing in on which one in particular your looking for. Aside from that, are your window switches automatic? (pull up and they automatically roll the window all the way up/down)
Automatic Transmissions are a trick. Sounds to me like Torque converter/valve body/or band issues. Usually band slippages are gradual, where as your issue was quite sudden. Did you check the fluid level hot or cold?
Check interior fuses. Chances are the window motors drew too much current.
