update: i dropped the pan today. fluid was pink and looked good but when i looked in the pan there was some metal shavings in there on the filter as well. i cleaned the pan out real good and put some lucus in it. drove it around and 1 and 2 and drive came back but the reverse is still grinding. i told him best bet to take it to the shop and get a new tranny.
ok i will try that. the check engine light is not on at this time. i had another set of eyes on it and he said it sounds like it not fully engaging. i was wondering if changing the transmission fluid and filter would help at all.
