I wanted to make sure I’m on the right track. The car is 16 yrs old and want to save some money
TY friendDo I need to change caliper bracket when changing caliper??
Ok point well taken. I guess I’m frustrated because I’ll ask the question when my car is in for whatever.
I always hear fine, fine, fine, then go in again and they say OH you need pads, rotors maybe a caliper or two!!
I think I’d rather pay extra labor cost than labor cost and the whole job. It was just a thought, and thanks very much fir your response!I forgot to ask, the parts store sells little packets of lube which does have silicone in it.
And is it good to put silicone paste on the ears of the pads, or only anti seize??Hi
Thanks for the detailed responses. Actually I did not clean the bore of the frozen pin, or even the pin itself, just figured a new one would be best.
I slid the new pin in and out a few times and wasn’t much old lube.
The fact that the piston was a bitch to retract should have been a clue. The caliper hardware came with new sliding pins, new bolts with lock washers, the boots were separate (4 @ 2.99) at Advanced Auto. Going to do new on both front calipers this week.
Really appreciate the help, and I do watch his videos a lot, so I should have known, but failure leads to sucess right??- AuthorReplies
