What was wrong with the 4wd unit? Sorry I just saw a bad carrier bushing and faulty u joints and bad rear diff mounts…. Or did I miss something.
Not driveable due to excessive shaking from all the worn mounts and busted u joint. The car is 12 years old and high milage, so it made more sense to me to spend less than $200 on a 2WD conversion than $1000+++ for the 4WD repairs.
Hi Stiv625
The tail housing (transfer gear) spin full time with the propeller shaft attach to it, the differential at the rear only engage when the front wheel slip.
Are you sure it wasn’t the rust bug having it’s way with metal?
There was some rust but mostly the metal of the rotor ” face” was surprisingly thin and brittle
Hey
Thanks, I try to choose vehicle that are as simple as possible, and stay away of options that I feel are not necessary, ABS is one of them. If repairs on the vehicle looks too tricky, I let the pro to take care of it.
You just give me one more reason to stay away from ABS.
Cheers

This help a lot, Silly me, I thought that would be an easy job like the rear wheel bearing of a Honda odyssey. Totally different
Can this be done without removing the knuckle from the vehicle with a bearing press kit?
I will look into the special tools. Thanks
