OK Gents, I went back in and removed the entire intake to clean the main port like in Eric’s video. The port didn’t have then sleeve in it and though back with carbon, wasn’t blocked. I cleaned it anyway and sprayed directly down the 6 port holes that feed the “ant farm”. The final verdict is this worked. The wife drove it for the week and said it doesn’t do it (as much), I notice that the van is quicker and smoother on acceleration.
Thanks for all the help, and as always, I’ll stay dirty
John
All, removed the top plate to expose the ant farm and, as Eric suggested, they were caked with carbon and the holes were restricted, one was worse than the others. Cleaned the underplate pathways, the holes on the plate, gasket and intake with carb cleaner and reassembled. Seems to ru a bit better but I wont know until the wife drive shte van daily. I’ll keep everyone posted.
One oddity: under the plate sitting on top of the intake were puddles of water, just wondering is this is condensation not escaping or if it is to be escaping through these passages which were clogged.

Plus Eric does a great vid on this which I posted to the other forum
What concerns me is I don’t have any CELs and such but I’ll pull the intake anyway to check what she’s lie. The video is for a ’99 but i think the premise is the same
Plugs are NGKs, coil was aftermarket as the OE was simply too costly. I don’t belive that only the OEMs will work as others have used dealer OE parts and had the dealer perform the maintenance and still they still have the issue.
Other than this problem, the van runs fine, in all weather and when this occurs there isn’t a CEL, TCS or flashing D to indicate a management problem.John from Ipswich, MA. Loving the forums and Eric’s vids have saved me time, money and frustration.
