Take some carb or brake cleaner and squirt at the intake behind cyl #4. Just a little cause you dont want to set the car on fire. if you hear a change in idle you’ve got a leaking intake gasket. Nissan is famous for this on their 4 Cyl engines. Ive seen this problem about once a month for the last 10 yrs.
check your fuses
If you dont have a bore scope you can pull the valve cover, other than that ask for maint records
Check your cooling fan.

Suburu parts can be expensive and sometimes you have to go to the dealer to get the parts you need, I know this because my Dad has driven Subaru’s
for the past 20 yrs and I’m his mechanic. They are dependable but I would lean more to the Honda.Quoted From yarddog1950:
Ford received huge loans from the government.
Ford is the only of the big 3 that hasn’t taken money from the gvt!
I’ve never known anything other than flat rate. With hourly rate when the work slows down they’ll cut your hours and you’re going to make less. When on flat rate you can stick around and you never know when that next golden repair order is going to show up and make your week. There has been times when we where dead all day and then right there at the end of the evening when the other techs chose to go home that last chevy 3.4L rolls in and I’m set up with a gravy intake job, stay late and knock it out in 2 hrs and my day is decent. The hourly guy was sent home at 1 to save on payroll and now he’s eating Roman noodles next week while I’m eating at Wendy’s.
Me either. I have done some light work, ie rust repair, a few paintless dent repairs, some light bondo and rattle can touch ups and some plastic welding but nothing professional.
Just to clarify, the IDS is Fords factory scan tool.
I found an update for the TCM programming in the up to date software on the IDS which superceded the program that was in the TCM. In driving I knew it was transmission. You learn what these things feel like after 12 yrs exp. in the buisness.
Also keep in mind that it is a smaller truck and the Dakota’s are not known to be the smoothest ride. Is it a shake or just a bumpy ride? When or what speed do you notice the ride problem the most or worst?
GMs are none for the blower motor resistor to go bad. I would have rec. that you replaced it when you did the motor. Also you need to check the control head, they are also not to uncommon on chevy’s.

Check fuses first then you can get a connector view schematic for the PCM and check all your power and grounds coming in and out of the PCM. I’m guessing your PCM is shot man.
You can buy a vacum pump from Autozone, disconect all the hoses to the evap canistor one at a time and plug one end off, use your pump to pull a vacumm from the other end, it takes some time but with out a smoke machine this is a sure fire way to find the leak in the evap system. Good news, thats a fairly simple evap system.
