This is just my big box. I’ll have to post pics of my roll carts and other junk later.

Attachments:Most Subaru’s have a spin on trans filter, not in the pan. The adjustment rod has nothing to do with air in the system, it does explain your brake problem. Wrong on the a/f and other sensors. It can cause a problem and still pass emissions and not have any codes.

If your scan tool will allow check to see if you have any rpm signal while cranking. You replaced the cam sensor you said but did you check the crank sensor. I bet that is where you’ll find your problem.

With the filter make sure you are not looking at the trans filter. It looks just like an oil filter and if its a Subaru filter there is a good chance it is the trans filter. For the brakes I would check the adjustment of the rod between the brake booseter and the master cylinder. It may need a master cylinder. For the fuel consumption I would start with Knock sensors, they are bad about causing problems on these cars, I’ve had a 98, 01 and now a 09 Legacy Outback and have had to replace knock sensors on all 3 for this problem. That being said the a/f ratio sensor could be the cause as could 02 sensors. Hope this helps.

I would check the main engine fuse. If someone tried to jump start it and put the cables on backwards this will most definetly cause it. When I worked as a tech at a Kia store we saw this more often than not.

Just an update, the ignition switch was the problem. Replaced it and all is well.

Thanks but I allready have a wiring diagram from mitchell. Everything is pointing to the ignition switch. My question is does anyone else have an idea as to what the problem could be. My first thought was dimmer switch but it tests good as does the multifunction switch. I’m just not 100% convinced that the ignition switch would cause this problem.

Not the same problem. The flashers and turn signals work fine until you turn the headlamps on. This proves the flasher to be fine.
