Managed to get the caliper apart completely. Cleaned it all up and checked it all out. Looks good and rubbers are all OK. Amazing how a couple months ago i didn’t even know what it was called and now thanks to the videos had the confidence to strip it down and put it back together without hesitation.

Well today i bought a second hand set of front calipers. The One of them have the same issue as mine but i can mix and match to make it work. I have found it impossible to find a repair kit for them so I’m still hoping the piston is OK. In the process of cleaning them up and snapped a few shots.

You can see the issue with the slider on the first picture. I have thought about heating it but i cannot remove the rubber so i would end up melting that and maybe making it worse. I have giving it a good go with a hammer but no joy yet. Was hoping to restore one set and sell em off but doesn’t look like that will be happening.

If you can rev the car in park and it doesn’t happen then you have just eliminated allot of possibilities. I would look at the wheel assembly in more detail. Have you checked the brake pad indicators to make sure they are not loose and making contact?

I think one of the main things people will need to know is does the Toyota course still cover everything in the standard automotive course or is it tailored to Toyota cars only.

If the Toyota course offers you the standard course with Toyota specialised input then you would be best choosing that as you will get both in one.

If it does not though i would (in my opinion) choose the standard course to get a basis on all types of vehicles. I presume you are young so you have your whole life ahead of you to consider.

Some questions to ask your self before you choose.

Will you stick to one dealership your entire life?
Do you want your own garage or is it something you would consider?
Which course will you get more information and knowledge out of?

                      Hey ETCG,

                      Thanks for the reply.

I was worried you would mention replacing the power steering rack. Its been in the back of my mind that i may have done some damage to it.

As off Thursday got a week off work i will be sorting out the caliper (and replacing discs) and restoring the rims and putting new tires on, Once all of that is done will have the wheels balanced (as I’m stripping chrome and spraying instead) and then aligned and get a final answer about it.

I cant see any damage to the under side of the car apart from the splash guard so have been thinking the power steering rack may be the issue.

                      Will keep you all updated.

Sounds like the issue is either with the connector or the wires coming from the computer. Unless the computer it self has a port then you will need to get the wire fixed. Otherwise there will be no way to access it.

Changed the pipe over and put some clamps on instead. It was blocked up as well and that was why it was bubbling when running on the old pipe. Its fine and clean now.

Next job will be changing the Brake calipers and restoring the old ones for sale or spare set. After pay day that is.
