Hey everyone, I have an automatic 2010 Ford Mustang 4.0 V6 with >30k miles on it.
i recently had my blower motor go bad, had it replaced, my brakes failed, had it replaced and thats about the only defective things that have happened to it under warranty.
Now
I hear a knocking sound from either the engine or the front driver side brake area, can’t determine exactly where but its in that area. Now this knocking sound has happened at weird times. Here are the times it’s happened
1. When starting i hear the sound for just a second and it stops (its like a loud knocking) This only happened once so far
2. Driving at a slow rate while turning its happened a couple times
3. When reversing slowly while foot is on the brakes its happened a couple times as well.thats pretty much the only times i can remember it happeneing. Now my buddy told me it could be a bad transmission mount, but i don’t think it could be that because wouldn’t it be knocking when shifting also?
I was also thinking maybe the starter bolts may have came lose so when i started the car the starter “wobbled” into place with the flywheel? My warranty expires in 6k miles and i want to get this fixed ASAP so it’s a free repair!! lol
Is your A/C on when this happens? If so try to turn it off then see if it knocks,My 2004 ford escape would do this knock noise once when i first start it, it seems to be the clutch or something engaging.I turn A/C off and no nock sound.Prob not your problem but worth a try..
THIS THREAD IS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE REPAIRS AND WANT TO SHARE THEIR HOW-TO DO IT SO OTHERS CAN LEARN IF THEY HAVING WHATEVER HOW-TO PROBLEM IT IS…IT;S NOT TO FIND OUT FROM SOMEONE ON HOW-TO DO THINGS, ASK YOUR QUESTIONS IN THE REPAIR QUESTIONS FORUM ON TOP OF THE DIRTY LOUNGE…

Quoted From Hawk2:
OK so I got another set of questions (more or less the same as above, but in shorter form):
1. Is the airflow better after installing vent visors when windows are opened about 2 inches? Or is it the same as before?
2. When windows are fully down, do you have any wind draft? The same or less as without vent visors?(1) I had better airflow before i installed my vent visors, they seem to deflect some of it away from comin in window.
(2) Wind draft seems to be less with visors with windows down, and also alot quieter. So yes still draft but less they seem to deflect the air coming in.
Quoted From Shirokuma:
Hi all,
To answer the above questions, I am referring to the hub and bearing assembly separating from the steering knuckle (or control arm?). I studied the videos for this procedure, bought and set four 10mm x 1.25 bolts to hit with a 2lb hand sledge, and carefully wet the area where the bearing sits inside the knuckle with WD40. Once I was ready to hit the bolts with a hammer, I noticed that the bearing was already moving inside the bore. So I wiggled it out by hand, and was very surprised!
So now I’m thinking Eric needs a talisman to ward off evil spirits.
JeffNow Thats lucky, good for you, people beatin their’s out and yours falls out…lol
Welcome charlie

A lot of good advice and idea’s. I’m sure more to come, but thanks guys. Never really thought about the tires, but it makes sense. Thanks!
Also be aware if it has brand new tires, some times they will put on a cheap pair of new tires to try to hide something like front end worn .So if it has Brand new tires just make sure u check the whole front end out, wiggle the tires and look for loose or worn parts in susupension an steering..Good luck
Welcome
Welcome,
Nice to meet you texascoder, look forward to bumping into u here and hopefully learn something too..I love learning from others and hope to give here also..
Hawk, i have the AVS brand vent visors, durable and they provide good ventilation when windows opened about an inch and rain does not come in.Mine are the stick on type, but they stick on well, never come off unless u want them off.
I have a 2004 ford escape limited, and not only do they work well, but also look really good..
