Thanks for writing that up…I like the procedure. Scannerdanner is really good at diagnosis, but sometimes hard for the common person to follow because his equipment is so fancy.

I would defiantly check over everything closely. A good service manual for your vehicle should give you detailed pictures and steps for doing your rear brakes. If the star wheel is maxed out you should see if something else is not hooked up right

I was wondering about vacuum leaks and if I understand right you said you think you have one and that you are going to replace the intake gaskets but haven’t yet. I would start there first then proceed onto other things.

Yes the painting and removing of grounds is definitely something you need to look into. A single loose ground connection can cause all kinds of problems. Maybe you could take your car back to the paint and have him look over all the grounds that were removed.
IF this doesn’t work, then we can look for additional issues from there, but in my experience, if you have a known problem, you deal with that first, and then if your symptoms persist, you look for other problems.
Agreed!
Fix all that other stuff then if it still doesn’t work I would try and unclog the heater core since it’s a fairly quick & easy procedure (Eric has a video on it). Even though both your hoses are warm there may still be a partial clog. Or maybe there is trapped air in your system affecting things and that video Tom posted is perfect for that.
Just running it until it stalls, then immediately running the factory test for the igniter should yield the same results, and requires nothing more than a basic multimeter.
Just out of curiosity what is the factory test that you would do after it stalls to determine the igniter is bad

I saw this video the other day from scannerdanner on a Honda with a problem very similar to yours. Basically the igniter would work for a while then limit current enough to start killing spark causing a stall
I don’t think you have to have a scope to do the test he does…an amp clamp should still tell you if the coil is pulling the amperage it should (6-8amps if I remember correctly ???)
Yeah, if you have the Canadian version, you have daytime running lights, which completely changes the way it is wired.
I have no idea how you knew that, but that’s exactly right 🙂 …it does have daytime running lights and that does seem to change the wiring a lot
