Hi Eric,
Love your channels on YouTube.
Just a suggestion I thought might be a cool video (or two, or three) – I see you have done quite a few videos on brakes (drums, discs, pad changes, etc…) – How about Master Cylinders and bleeding them (bench bleeding, etc) – the different types (single piston, twin piston) as that is something we are currently studying at TAFE (college) here in Australia. Maybe even a video on brake boosters as well?
I’ve managed to even suggest a few of your videos for classroom use as well!
Anyways mate – keep up the great work – looking forward to some Fairmont vids this year!

As far as I’m aware – when it comes to Diesels (1st year apprentice) – black smoke is a sign of over-fuelling (running rich). What sort of injection does this engine use? Common Rail or Direct? Id be checking how much Diesel spray they are pumping out and you may find it is too much…
Hope this helps…

For air tools – I prefer Ingersoll Rand… It just lasts…
Hand tools – I have a mixture of KC Tools, Kincrome, Sidchrome and Irwin (here in Australia at least anyways)…
I personally think a lot of Snap On is overpriced – I’m sure its better, but I really cant see much of an advantage between my KC set that I use daily, and Snap On…

Its basically a Diesel Mechanic apprenticeship. To work on plant equipment, etc, I need to a 6 month trade up course after my apprenticeship (eg: CAT, Detroit Diesel, Komatsu, Hitachi, etc… etc..)

So far – I’m now nearly five months in – daily use on them – not a single problem! since then though, I have also added some tools (as we all know – can never have enough).
I’ve even used the sockets on a 1/2″ inch rattle gun (yes, I know you are supposed to use proper hardened sockets) with no damage – fortunately… I’m looking at getting proper impact sockets (deep impact too) – but over here in Australia (especially KC Tools as well) they are just so darn expensive!!
Have also now added to this toolbox a set of 3/4″ sockets from a brand called Kincrome (not sure if you guys get them either) – mainly of a larger size to deal with truck and trailer equipment – as the largest socket I had initially in this toolbox was a 32mm. Now my largest is 2″
Anyways – was just an update – will keep this updated as time goes by…
Cheers all! π

A quick search for me, found this perhaps?:
P3001 Manufacturer Specific Powertrain Trouble Code
Was there any symptoms prior to this code being displayed?
Cheers…
