Thank you! I’m gonna do the voltage drop test
Thank you! Yesterday I confirmed that there is a short at some point before the large circuit of the starter relay. I can start the car if I touch the wire on the positive terminal of the battery and the negative side of the starter relay.
I thought about just rigging a wire from the positive battery terminal to the positive side of the starter relay (to give me key ignition control), but I want to see if I can actually find the short and try to fix it before I do that.
So is there a spot on Toyotas where shorts usually happen? Is there a spot I should check first? Will I have to take off the fuse box in the process?
Thanks again
Here’s a link for the pdf download! hope this helps.

I fixed it! there’s a set screw on the throttle, so I set it to hold the throttle a little more open to let a little more air in, and now my car can idle sufficiently. Thanks to all that replied to the forum!! Thank you!
After reading the idle issues link, I suspect it is the IAC or something electrical. I checked for leaks (sprayed carb cleaner in suspect areas) and I didn’t find any. I unplugged the MAF and the car threw the CEL, but when I re-attached it, the light went off. On the flip-side I unplugged my o2 sensors, but didn’t get a CEL. What does that mean?
Yup, I’ve connected the new MAF securely. I checked for vacuum leaks and found nothing and the electrical connections to the o2 sensors seem to be fine. There’s also no check engine light
I tried resetting and still nothing 🙁
I un-hooked the battery, un- hooked the MAF and cleaned it. I didn’t let it dry when I got back on the road. I got a new MAF sensor and It’s still doing the samething
I have tried almost everything! I un-hooked the battery OVERNIGHT to allow the computer to reset, still nothing. I held the rpms at 3k for 7 mins to help the computer relearn how to idle and still… nothing. I replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, and put in A NEW MAF SENSOR! And still I have nothing. Now, I’m suspecting that it’s the IAC (Idle Air Control valve). I unhooked the IAC and I got no difference in idle, could this mean it’s broken? if not is it a broken fuse? Bad computer? or am I way off of the map? 🙁
I’m freakin out
