I wrote Honda Automobile Customer Service a letter explaining my issue to them and referenced the TSB 09-010. They responded pretty quickly and we negotiated a resolution, so they sent me a Honda Loyalty card that can be used at any Honda dealership for half the cost I was quoted to get the repair. It’s not total win, but it’s better than nothing and it only took me 10 minutes to write the letter.

Yes, it’s just a single wire going to the connector. I suspected fog lights, but I wanted to double check with someone else. This makes sense, since my car doesn’t have fog lights.

Has anyone had a positive experience with this new VTC actuator?
I think the old part # is 14310-R44-A01. The new part # 14310-R5A-305.

I’ve read mixed feedback on various CR-V and Accord forum. Instances where the new part that came out in March 2016 was replaced and was quiet for the time being, but as soon as temperatures dipped it would make the grinding noise regularly or intermittently. Other people have said it fixed it. Just debating whether I should spend the $630 to have the dealership replace it.

I read an instance where someone added Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer and it remedied the issue. I’ve used this in my Malibu and Grand Prix regularly w/ oil changes, but haven’t tried it on the Accord yet (bought it last week). Worth a shot I guess.

I had read that previously, that’s what led me to start investigating fuel trims. But all my data reads fuel trims are within expectations.
So I’m a bit stuck. Could it be the MAP sensor?
