i can understand the idea of a leak in the system but i don’t have any leak’s anywhere the antifreeze level stays the same . i didn’t know their was a cleaner just a flush . would it be ok to run the cleaner one wk and flush it with water and than run a flush product through the system to really get it clean or would that be to much ?? i really need to get it clean cause i plan on making a run to los angles and back . i don’t need any cooling problems on the trip i figure about 6000 miles round trip .. thanks

yes the regulator inside the tank on the pump is what he changed . he sent me video of the fuel pressure and the reading was running between 90 and 100 psi with the motor running . motor off and it slowly and I mean slowly dropped in about 3 hrs. to about 50 psi and stayed there . again my question is that pressure way to high and is that regulator backwards ???

can’t do anything with it till saturday but it is a return system . funny i’m using a new test gauge and last friday the pressure dropped fast . i started the car today and the pressure took about 15 mins. to drop but it did drop and the pump is still has a loud sound

ok friday night was the first time i drove the escape in 18 months and aside from the rough starting it ran ok . it seemed to pull good to a point and i had some what sounded like spark plug ping but it didn’t feel like it eased up on pulling but i did notice the fuel pump was a little noisy . in spite of the pump holding pressure could it be getting to the point that it is starting to weaken and maybe quit . it does have 190,000 plus miles on it .

Ok here is the list of what i replaced so far …. new tps. , all new vacuum hoses , cleaned fuel injectors , new seals on lower and upper intake , new spark plugs , new egr valve , new fuel filter , fuel pressure holds at 60 overnight and i replaced the pressure regulator on the rail and yes pressure holds good while the motor is running . i changed all the vacuum related sensors or switches . the only thing i didn’t change is the o2 sensor or sensors . now the motor starts but rough and idles rough for about 5 mins when the temp warms up it does smooth out but when i punch the gas i get spark ping and little lazy to rev up . oh ya i didn’t do anything with the cats because the exhaust flow at the tail pipe seems to be real good i don’t believe their is any restriction . this is why i’m looking for help on this problem . yes at 190,000 miles i did check the compression and it’s in limit’s . if anyone has some idea on what i am over looking please tell me .

their are no codes stored . I forgot to mention that I also put on a new ideal control valve to . coil packs are good and I used starting fluid sprayed around all the hoses and i also used propane with no change in engine speed . as for the ambient temp it’s been around 65 degrees now . I’m really at a loss on what to look for that is causing the problem . oh you asked about the mileage it’s at 150,000 miles

I have no codes showing . I cleaned the injectors put in new seals on injectors, new seals on both half’s of intake manifold, new maf, new plugs, and new tps . it will ideal at first start but won’t rev without sputtering and dying out . leave it ideal and warm to operating temp and it will rev up but with hesitation real lazy rev. when it was cold out it was backfiring through the intake . I’m not sure what else to look for . i don’t believe it has a vacuum leak i mean i can’t find one . if anyone has some idea what else i can check please feel free to let me know. thanks

It’s a little hard to start and when it does start i can’t step on the gas cause it sputters some and when it reaches running temp it will run better but has hesitation to rev up . i check the fuel pressure and it is holding but i thought 69 psi was high but i’m told that’s good. i didn’t see any change in pressure when i unhooked the vacuum hose from the fuel damper regulator . it just stayed at 69 psi . I’m thinking their should have been a change in psi am i right on that ??? thanks.

I was told that the letter P in front of the tire size numbers also plays a roll in the height of the tire ???????????? another response sounded like their was some miss understanding about the tire’s . both brands are for car’s , both are all season thread touring tire’s I think maybe I should have said that neither brand is a winter snow tire . sorry for any confussion . one local tire shop by me said it didn’t matter the brand if the the numbers are the same than the tire’s are the same height and width . but of course I didn’t believe him that’s why I turned to the web site . I do thank everyone for the info

I’m having some fuel problems with my 2001 escape with the 3.0 engine but what you are talking about really sounds like a wire problem ( live or ground ) . you said it’s been running strong when it runs so that would make me think that the pump is holding pressure but is cutting out for reason’s of losing electrical power . yes i would start checking wire’s and plug’s

hmm i’m not to sure but one thing that might have happened is busting a hole in top of a piston if a valve did hit one and yes also it could have bent a valve . at this point i think i would just pull the head to be sure.
