Hello Tish, I’m here in Scotland I have a new small shop mostly dealing with Mercedes cars.
Today, I am replacing a gearbox filter and changing the backend and gearbox oil (EP90)on a $96000 SLR
College seems to be a nightmare. I would look at doing courses at a manufacturer which they run for a little Money. Eric’s Videos are a great starting point too.How are you doing?
JaneThe Acton is a great tool but if you want to get the best. You don’t cut corners and you work on Mercedes cars you need the Rolls Royce of tools. Buy a Snap-on Verus.

http://www.wellforce-osk.com/Sockets.aspxThere is a way to skim the disks flat again depending how much metal there is left. You don’t want to make the disk too thin! If you have access to a lathe you can re-machine them.
Don’t have a lathe? If you are careful, you can use an angle grinder clamped on a bar on top of a heavy axle stand. run the car in first gear taking off the ridges and smoothing out evenly. You are effectively turning the car into a Lathe.

Jane πI’m not sure if you will be able to get a good finish outdoors. The wind tends to mess up the spray pattern. More, loads of bugs from all the place over will stick to your paint. One way though is to use the paint pad method… not perfect but does get the job done. It depends how far you want to take it.
