That’s why I suggested a greaseless silicone. So would you Use the silicone.

So will lubing it hurt anything? Where would you guys recommend buying a new lock key cylinder from. Car is not worth spending a whole lot on it.

So I took college man suggestion of being a fuel issue. The fuel pressure test was good and was over 50 PSI. Took a gamble and replaced the fuel pump (what a pain in the ass)as I had one here with this parts car that I got awhile back. Of course it was in the gas tank. Didn’t think fuel pumps worked part time always thought either they work or don’t work. Well so far its been about 5 days and no more issues hopefully it stays that way.

Thanks to all you people that suggested things to check to solve this issue. My son and I really appreciate it.

                Thanks again.

So I got the newly cut key to work but I still have to play around to get it to turn. Same as the old worn key. What happens if i lube it up with some grease-less silicone to help from not sticking.

I went and got a key cut thinking the same thing but with the new cut key I can not even turn the key to start the car. So don’t think its the key. Is there a way to check this.

                        Thanks

Where is the crank position sensor located on a 2.4 liter grand am. I thought I would give it a try as the I have read lots on it that could cause my issue. Need some pictures to see where it is located as what I have looked at doesn’t apply to my car for some reason. Have a parts car so thought I would give it a whirl does hurt anything. Just replaced the fuel pump thinking could be part of the problem too.

My son said the security light does not come on and does not flash when trying to start car. It cranks and sound like it will go but just doesn’t.
