First on the cylinders with the lower compression, shoot a few drops of oil into the cylinders and retry the compression test. if those cylinders come up, you at least have worn rings on those cylinders.
Second, if you don’t have and air compressor you may see if one of the parts stores have leak down testers available, if they do, then network to see if you can find someone who will let you use their compressor at there place, a leakdown tester is the best way to determine if you have blow by and where it is coming from.
Third take the oil cap off and place a piece of cardboard over it with the engine running, and the pcv installed and see if the engine will have enough vacumm to hold the small piece of cardboard to the valvecover.
The last suggestion should be tried first.I failed to mention that the fuel tank was removed and cleaned out and a new fuel pump installed due to low fuel volume. once replaced, everthing came back to spec.also due to a set code that came about last week, I analized and replaced the egr valve. during the testing portion I tried cleaning the valve, but no go, so I replaced it and all is well in the egr system.
I also would like to mention that I bought this van a few months back and it is my wife’s daily driver. there is 122,000 miles on the clock. also as for fuel running low, I know fuel cools the fuel pump, and also keeps it from burning up.The fuel is never below a quarter of a tank before fill up, usually around a half a tank when it is filled.I’m leaning toward maybe and evaporative issue.any comment or advise would be appreciated.
Thank you for the two responses.
