And when your Boss desided to go to this “Team Pay” system , did you ask him how it would work? The only team pay system I’ve heard was by paying employee’s a flat hourly wage and then a bonus if the weekly total billable hours were above a set amount *bonus’s based on hours over what was exspected* . That being said there’s a million different ways they could be doing it, so you really need to ask your boss to explain it to you.
Book times have become a massive joke!!! I’m sorry but any shop worth it’s salt will charge for EVERY .1 that the Tech spends finding and fixing the problem! If they dont they need to rethink their business model. *they will also FIRE all the clock milkers, without batting an eye*
Get under yer rig and look for black or “stained” spots on your exhaust system. Yer rig might not be leaking , but might be seeping just enough oil to cause a drop or two to hit the hot exhaust. If its only a drop or two ever couple days, you wont notice the “leak” on a dipstick in just a week.
do your research…………… Snappy, Mac, Proto, SK, Cornwell, OTC, etc etc all make good tools even the CHINA knockoff’s. I have been in the Automotive Industry over 30+yrs and I can only tell you the “insert name here” stamp on the side dont mean SQUAT!!! It’s all about research and finding what works!!! I have a “Champion Spark Plug” ratchet that I’ve had for “GOD KNOWS” how long and its my GOTO 3/8″ ratchet………… Outlasted 3 Snappy’s and 1 Mac …………. I got it free, when the Co. my Pop bought from bought bulk spark plugs
Most times , now-a-days Snap-On,MAC,MATCO is just overpriced crap BTW
I’ve worked for a few, heading out of my current job for just that reason. I’ve found in recent years that the automotive repair world has changed ALOT. Nowadays its more and more about the allmighty dollar and “wallet flushing”.

All I can say is ………….. Soon as you get an EGO in this trade yer gonna get yer arse handed to ya, plain an simple!

I have *havent actually counted lately* about 5 sets of both 6pt and 12pt sockets up to 2″/36mm. I also have 3 sets of inverted torx, and about 500+ random other sockets. All total *just guessing* I have over 20k+ in sockets alone. Every tool I own has its place, weather I use it once a day or once a decade. I mostly use 6pt’s as they handle the torque better and dont generally round off a bolt.

drop it out the bottom, get everything unkooked except the cradle. Set up 4 jack stands*tall, and heavy duty* , lower the cradle onto the stands, take out the final 4 bolts, then lift the car off the assmebly. Actually really easy.

I would leave them and not loosen them as its not that much of an over-torque.

Hello,
My name is Mason *Mace* and I’ve been an automotive tech for over 30+yrs. Currently working in an indy shop and doing 90% light duty diesel work (ford/dodge/chevy). Was ASE certified until about 12yrs ago, also held several GM certs. Pretty much self taught and learned from being thrown to the wolves so to speak, at most places I worked. Fairly weak at elec. work due to colorblindness, but still love to do heavy line work and love working on cars none the less. Engine and Tranny rebuilding are my favorite, tho really GREEN at transmissions and have only built about 20 give or take. Anyhow thats a bit about me. -
