I actually changed it about 2k miles ago. It was the normal dark reddish color from being old and worn, Not black or gunky. I don’t remember how it performed before I changed it. I assume it was still the same. If I need to replace clutch packs then it’s a good time for a rebuild then.
Is cardone good? Your comment isn’t clear lol. I reset the ECU and it’s still making the noise before relearning. I’ll get me a timing gun again and retard the timing
this is the distributor i purchased. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010DN0QW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
ill reset my ECU and see how it acts again
i know i need a timing gun but where can you get one for 10 dollars? i had to get one from harbor freight for i think was around 30 or 40 dollars. i returned it afterwards. the timing mark was dead 0 when i set it. maybe the notch is off slightly or maybe the timing light i got from there has a bad latency problem. i started off unplugging the advance timing wire to time my engine. got it to 0. reconnected the advance timing wire and then listened for any unusual noises. sounded perfect. after a few minutes of the ECU learning again from being unplugged from the battery, the problem comes in. the ECU is advancing the timing too far apparently from your suggestion. i can try retarding the ignition.

tapping when you first start is lack of oil getting to the top of the engine. stepping on the gas/accelerator pushes the oil more and gets it to where it needs.
im not well informed about this matter on my own yet except it could have a failing oil pump or clogged passages
thanks for finding this for me. i will check this out and try some of it. quite a few people in that forum are having actual problems with that error code while i dont notice anything. i just want my stuff working proper and the check engine light off.
.
I just count the check engine flashes and get 4 and 3 for 43. I look online and it says it’s a knock sensor code
i think its just check engine code 43. knock sensor error
thanks. it actually wasnt too hard. just needed to put a little muscle into it. didnt even need to use my breaker bar
theres no way around this. even if you got the gasket to work, it will blow out very soon
you need to remove it. you will need to get a center punch and drill a small hole into the bolt and increase the drill bit size by one size each time until you have a nice size hole to get a good size drill bit extractor into. first i would heat up the bolt with a torch before extracting but after making the hole. let it cool and then extract it
