I would start by putting masking tape over that area in case the tools you are working with slip. I would use a speed handle with an Apex holder and a #2 bit if you can, because that will give you a lot of direct force. Otherwise you could drill it with a #30 bit and try to snap the head with an 1/8th inch punch. Good Luck

Have you dropped the pan and changed the filter and fluid yet?

I have a F-150, so your post caught my eye. I did some looking around and there seems to be a lot of people with your problem. One of the recurring themes I see with that engine is the coil packs get cracks in them, and a lot of the people were not getting codes. I would take them off and at least inspect for cracks. I hope you get this resolved soon.

I have an ’06 and it doesn’t respond well to stomping on the petal. I always attributed the lag to it not having an actual throttle cable. As for gas mileage, my story is the reverse. I switched my tires from coopers to hankooks, and started running mobil one high mileage full synthetic ($24 for a 5 gallon jug a wal-mart) and changed the fuel filter, and my mileage jumped a good 3 miles to the gallon on the highway.
