Today when she arrived at my so I could put my scanner was about a 25 minute drive for her. I pulled the codes mentioned, but that was when I stepped on the gas (snap throttle simulation)and it stalled out on me. It started right away and stayed running up until she got home about 7pm and no stall. Crank sensor was a thought of especially in this Florida heat then the stalling should get progressively worse. I will put together a more detailed symptom list by tomorrow. I need to get some rest. Thanks for all the help.

greasemanGood question? My niece told me today for instance; the car started fine in the morning at 9am,so the crank no start was ruled out. They ran errands for about 2 hrs then returned home. It was not until 1pm that she started the car and got a short distance then the car hestitated then stalled out. I’m was dwelling on a hot engine, but it did have time to cool when they returned; that is why I feel intermittens are the mother of ailments. I put the scanner on the car because if she stalled it would set a DTC, but the PO420 code has been there for awhile. The PO171 was pending and probably in a another drive cycle it will set a code. I was thinking a vacuum leak or MAF as possibilities.

Hello, my stay dirty friends:
Eric I believe your right. After talking with a Master tech at my job, the red color was/is Ford’s color to their? coolant and could also be some rust. He recommended getting the flush kit for the Crown Vic and would probably have to flush a couple of times within a year so it will clear. Also, I’m to take out the reservoir and clean it very well. This should remedy the coolant issue. Thanks for all the help and most of all “Stay Dirty”. :cheer:

Hello again stay dirty comrades:
I need to fully describe what I posted last night because I was tired from work when I wrote it. I live in Winter Park Orange County, Florida and the car is a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria 4.6L SFI engine code W… I was told by my Master Technician friend that worked on the vehicle and the car is running smooth to this point; that what was the antifreeze that they use and he stated to me that to go to AutoZone that the car needs a 100% antifreeze and that the green one would be fine and quote. The reason for my question is that I have not worked on this car before and need to do this correctly for educational (do it right) other than just throwing anything in her. I know my friend for a year, and I need to very which green, or is it the extended life green/yellowish antifreeze or a conventional green I found made by Peak. Collegeman is it the Prestone green because I seen a jug that was actually labeled green?

Ok. Remember I said at this point the car cranks, but will not crank over. I’m still curious because according what he said to me the car started(it cranked over)and his son drove the car until at some point the car stalled while he was driving(all of a sudden). The car cranked over in the morning-meaning you can rule out the coil. You have spark, fuel?,for the pressure in the fuel still has to be checked which possible leads me to the time-belt because when it goes the car will stall out while your driving? I asked if the car was shifting abnormally because I researched the code as well, and he said that it going into gear(automatic)fine. I also remember that he wanted to borrow an extension from me because he was replacing a speed sensor(Hummm)because the speedometer wasn’t working. Collegeman is this a little more helpful?
