immobiliser issues are so easy to miss
The oil was changed before I got it according to the sticker and was due for the next change at 78,000km, but I did change the oil at 75,000km but the oil filter would not come off by hand and I did not have a good oil filter wrench tool.
And to get access to the filter I need to drop the entire bottom engine guard.Getting subaru to fix it on friday
Crap like this is why I don’t trust mechanics, while yes there are good ones, the bad ones just cause problems for all
Code is back.
The car just pulled out of a car park and started accelerating at the time still in 1st auto gear
I was in the passenger seat at the time and the best way i can describe it is.
Normal acceleration noise, then a dip on engine noise. and power, then feels normal again, but was not a up-shift by the tranny.
And it happened with 2secondsI dont know if you have to program the ECU to the new tranny, but you might have to being OBD-II an all.
Lets not forget while diesel is cheaper with road tax and the fuel.
The Dual Mass Flywheel is a expensive thing to replace along with the clutch which these days on modern cars is expensive as well.
But remaping diesels is nice from what i hear. There is a leak if you are losing water/coolant.
A pressure test will show you where it is, but a simple way is to carefully fill it with distilled water and see where the water is leak is from
Are there any white spots around the engine or its hoses? From what i have seen, coolant will leave white residue when it evaporates.
If you find the issue and fix it yourself, remember to bleed the system
Some of erics videos
Solving an overheat
Pressure testing the cooling system
Bleeding the cooling sytstem
I found the solenoid or the control module hard to tell what it was as it was cramped, disconnected the electrical connector, gave it a gentle blow, reconnected.
The light is off for now where as it was on all the time before.Could be an intermittent issue, could have just been a connector that became a little loose.
Too early to tell.Saw that video a while back and explained what the code meant to my parents.
Is there any live data that i can capture to see if the solenoid is sticking or is faulty?
I hate the intro to his videos.
You don’t need to come screaming in a muscle car with its brakes locked with heavy metal playing loudly in backbackgroundI hate the intro to his videos.

You have to jack the car to replace the oil filter so why not kill 2 birds with one stone?

Thought normal output voltage for an alternator was above 14.0v.
My civic does 14.2v and it has a 1.8(but then again it is packed with gadgets.)I think 2 cells were dead.
When i connected a 55w H1 bulb the voltage went from 12.1 down to 8.6v.
Battery is only 3 years old.
