I agree with Richard Kirshy. Eric the Car Guy demonstrated how to use a mechanical oil pressure gauge in his recent video concerning a power steering problem. If you do need to replace the oil pump, I hope the following video will be useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJPGDqLdXfo

I don’t have the schematics for your vehicle. However, I’d be willing to bet there is more to your front axle assembly than just the CV joints. One thing that I would try is stopping at neutral when going between drive and reverse. If your problem diminishes significantly, it may mean at least part of the problem is outside the transmission. Also, if your engine is idling too high this can accentuate the issue.
I hope you can resolve this issue before it gets worse.

Enlightening and comprehensive list of faults for the Honda Acura TL. I’m sure some of these apply to other Hondas as well. It is a long, yet enlightening read and well worth the time for the owners of these vehicles. Thanks so much for compiling such an inclusive volume of faults. I learned more about car repair simply by reading them.

That is a great diagnosis, Mr. Voight. This problem seems quite repetitive and the failures are happening more frequently. To me, it seems like some sort of fault that builds over time. That is why I thought of a clogged fuel filter. We agree that a faulty pump or sending unit could also be the cause. Howbeit, intermittent electrical faults do not happen on a regular basis as far as something that happens every 10 days or so. It would happen whenever something caused a wire to flex or when a component shifted or overheated. It is a quandary.

I am pro-education all the way. Howbeit, I only have a few college credits related to mechanical repair. Most of my early years were spent studying electrical engineering. I have business, and education degrees – not automotive. However, I have years of automotive and mechanical experience. Would I be hired as a mechanic? I doubt it, because I don’t have the specific educational requirements. There are several things for employers to consider, and shop insurance is one of them. In addition, many states require that you pass a Certified Mechanic Examination of your particular state in order to repair vehicles on your own. My belief is that those who want to be career mechanics will get some schooling to learn the trade. I passed an internet program, which has helped me write about Automobile Mechanics.

That is a good question. I am told that I am logged-on with an alias. Nevertheless, my real name is posted. It doesn’t bother me. Howbeit, it is misleading for those concerned with privacy issues. My name is pretty common.

I’m not sure what charity I saw years ago, but it could have been Goodwill. Yet, whatever charity you donate it to, remember to get a receipt for the current value of the car. It’s tax deductible. I’ve donated to the Salvation Army as well.

Have you replaced your fuel filter? Another think to check is pump, which often is in the fuel tank connected to your fuel level meter. If your gauge tells you that you are suddenly empty, that’s a good place to look. Do you see a check engine light? It could be an intermittent electrical fault, but it sounds more like something in your fuel delivery system. Hey, I’m not Eric, but I have experienced fuel problems in the past.

                        Thanks, Eric,
Somehow, I missed your email reply in my inbox. I am not the only one using this computer, yet I shouldn’t have missed it. Too much junk, I guess. Thanks for the clarification.
Question 1 – I answered it myself. The red wire, like you said, goes to the box.
Question 2 – Was a warning to others about the white wire on the trailer end. I wanted to make sure installers knew to make sure it was grounded securely.
Question 3 – The purple wire was my question to you. I didn’t know it was a disabler. That makes sense. Wired in series doesn’t make sense to me. I’ll watch the video again, and review the schematics.
                        Question 4 – Was a compliment. I shouldn’t have called it a question.
Thanks for your reply. Sorry for my belated response.
