Good places to start are, of coarsewhat the code says, colour of smoke, odour of smoke, frequency of misfires, if they happen only when cold… Ect.

It can be many issues, i wont go into what it can be because i dont want to scare you. Either way i can tell you a story atleast.

A while back on my 97 crv i had quite a bit of dark smoke and a discusting un burnt gas smell come from the exhaust, i had to keep it on recirculation otherwize i would choke to death not to mention an insane ammount of misfires.

Turned out to be the ignition control module crapping out, because it finally dies and the car didnt start so i diagnosed for a few hours, replaced it, no more issues.

You could take it to a local auto shop and just have them scan
It, look up the code number at home.

Misfires can happendue to fuel loss, conpression loss, or even ignition, spark loss.

See if you can find the code, maybe it will confirm its a misfire and we can go from there.

      Good luck!!

      Sincerely,
      John

Thats the thing these 02 sensors dont have plugs or caps, just straight wore out. It helps me kinda but these ones didnt come with instruction on which wires are supposed to be for what. Maybe i should look into getting bosch ones

The Considering yours is an 07, it should have some sort of control regulated by the computer, eg: high steering assist at parking lot speeds, and low assist once the speed sensors detect a certain speed.

            Like karl said.

another thing to possibly look for which is just a suggestion, but there could be a restriction in the system. If you hear a hissing sound that may be the problem.

            just a sugestion,

Belt could be the problem too

Yeah its pretty old and its seen allot, I just did an oil change to 5w-20, little bit thinner. Figured it would help, it did, it quited it down a tad. I will do a valve adjustment soon to see what happens, but all in all your right. Old engines tend to make noises, sometimes theres nothing you can do but replace it. And college man is right, pulling out my oil filter which i just changed was completely clogged with unwanted crap. I put 5w-20 synthetic in as opposed to 5w-30 high mileage. I feel high mileage might be releasing too much crud off the engine due to the detergents in it.

              Thanks guys

I got a pipe the same size and just clamped it straight on. Its not going over or under the l pipe. The leak seemed to stop, allot more gas is coming out of the tail pipe. Like ALLOT. Although, all of a suddon 2 problems started to occur along with installing that pipe. Number 1: there is a very low frequency oscillating humming coming from the engine bay, and i mean low, like subwoofer low. Number 2: clicking or almost like tapping noise coming directly from the engine, and it gets louder when you give it more gas. These may be seperate issues, i mean this thing is old. It just hit 200 miles yesterday.

Thanks for te help guys, the general consencus i see is a tin can is a no go, but a pipe yes
