Another way I found that is even easier is to install them with the heads off. This way, they can be torqued correctly.

Got the lower intake installed. Seems you have to install them together and then wiggle them. The fasteners in the middle were difficult to reach to tighten though!

Not sure about the fan in the first gen PT’s but my 2007 had 2 fan speeds iirc.

I would do as mentioned above and bleed the cooking system. I used to do this with the radiator cap off. Now I use the yellow spill free funnel as seen in the bleed cooling system video.

Also might not hurt to get a new radiator cap.
So you have the old core out just fine? Is the new core look the same as the old one?
Yes the new core is the same. I also figured out my issue.

There was a hex screw that I could not see at the top of the panel. I ended up breaking the panel and was able to get the heater core pipes through the firewall. Upon going to junkyard to get a replacement panel, I saw the screw that I could not see since this panel also broke.

New core is in and now I have nice hot heat.

Easy heater core to do. Getting to the hose clamps on heater hoses is a challenge since you have limited room.

The car was returned and replaced with something else. I would have tried the headgasket, but time is the problem at the moment. I don’t think the headgasket would have been that challenging, maybe later down the road another civic will come into the picture.

Sorry, I did not get any emails about replies.

Had a shop do a leak down test and they confirmed 1 and 3 are leaking and have coolant in them. However, all the cylinders had 180 across. Car did overheat once but I pulled off and shut it down until it cooled down. Maybe the previous owner tried to use a fix in a bottle or something. I was told it was not worth repairing. Which is absolute BS imo since Civics are pretty reliable except for tranny issues. Car is back at the car lot and another car with less mileage is in the works. I think the headgasket would have been doable for me. Maybe another Civic will be in the picture later. It seems the term “high mileage” is BS in used cars. To me, mileage depends on how much was highway vs city, driving style, maintenance, and ETC.

Are the head bolts reusable or are they Torque To Yield?

I have a Haynes and the Helms or something from a Honda forum I found. As for the belt, that will be the scary part for me since I’ve only worked on a non-interference setup and not a interference. I will just have to be real careful with the belt.
