Sorry it took a few days to get back to you guys. Thanks for your replies. Well in addition to what I posted already I performed a cylinder leakage test on all cylinders and it too was good. So I put seafoam in the cylinders and let it sit overnight, really not expecting much, but did it anyway and now it isn’t smoking. Of course after the seafoam treatment it smoked like a freight train for the first hour. The only thing I can think of is the car sitting idle on the car lot for several months perhaps one or more ring became stuck especially since it wasn’t driven much after replacing the headgaskets originally. I’ve had that happen with rings becoming stuck before but usually I could isolate it down to which cylinder by certain signs. This particular car wasn’t giving us much. Anyway thanks for everyones input hopefully we won’t see this one again.

What kind of issue are you having with it? They had a TSB on the blower motors for this year.

The service manual says for that model after turning the ignition switch on, if your holding the reset buttons, the light should flash 10 times then go out. If it isn’t doing anything then there may be a problem with the circuit perhaps.

The VIS is the variable induction control actuator and the injector, well it’s the fuel injector. I attached a picture from Alldata of the upper intake which looks like it’ll have to be removed to access the rear bank spark plugs. Not rocket science but you will have to disconnect a few things prior to removing it. Make sure you get a new gasket for this before reinstalling it. After getting everything out of your way it’s pretty standard stuff. HTH good luck.

Yep those waterpumps are no fun. Never liked the Quad4 engines. The dual overheads are even more fun. Have you performed a coolant system pressure test? Another thing you could try if you have access to a pressure tester is hooking it up to the radiator while engine is cool, start it and watch the pressure rise on the gauge. Don’t pressurize it prior to starting it leave it at zero. If it rises rapidly you probably have a blown head gasket. A normal slow rise in pressure is fine. Also don’t let it get past the systems rated max pressure. Shut off the engine before that happens.

Sorry just noticed you found your problem, congratz. I’ll leave the post up just to help the next guy, good luck.

Have you tried getting under the hood while the vehicle is running on a day while it’s running good and just do a wiggle test? I mean just grabbing the engine harness in various locations and wiggling it also at the connectors. I know the PCM I believe is located on the firewall. It could be a bad solder joint or wiring connection causing it to be intermittent. It may stumble while your doing this when you get close to the bad area.
