I don’t really feel like I’m an expert in this area. Also, as you pointed out, there’s a lot of info out there. Not to say it wouldn’t be a good topic, I just don’t know when I’d get to it. I’ll certainly consider it.

        Thanks for the suggestion.
The best filter is the one the parts guy gives you to fit 😆

The question it’s self in it’s most basic form is fairly simple if you have a new clean engine you want a finer oil filter to keep it as clean as possible with regular oil changes to keep the filter from clogging.

Older cars tend to have courser filters and the tolerances aren’t as tight and they are more forgiving of swarf.

that being said you’ll struggle to find any info from most oil filter manufacturers of the actual spec of the oil filter and for day to day use just buy a good quality filter from a named brand that is designed for your vehicle.

In the uk techs are on a salary and i think that’s the best way to do things it’s really not your fault if the shop is dead you’re there and willing to work you should be paid accordingly we have efficiency targets and such which are used to calculate bonus/weed out the people not doing there job but overall the system works as long as you dont expect to make bonus every month as it’s just not a realistic goal.

I have a full set of 3/8ths 12 pts that only get used on 12 point bolts same with impacts got a snap on set of impacts 12 points but only larger sizes for the hub nuts which they made 12 point for some clever reason.

I think techs appreciate the service but at the same time the price of snap on rises faster than are wage packets and the quality goes down.

Was browsing snap on webpage earlier

                        http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=hand&item_ID=633192&group_ID=674993&store=uk&dir=catalog

For you yanks that is $2100 for a 8-36mm spanner set that is more than a months pay to purchase a “complete combination spanner set”

I wouldn’t buy that tool mostly because the tool is a complete rip off of the Autel and + the fact that is has a 100% mark up of the autel
