on the diagram you posted part number 23 is the part that i messed the threads up on most likely i may just have worn the threads on the nut in which case i might luck out but i think i have to find that number 23 part because it is what the spindle comes on but also i kind of have a bit of an issue here because My f 150 is a 7 lugger its not even the same as any other f 150 ive ever seen it is the 7700 edition that makes finding parts for it a pain in the ass

Finally got it out and oil changed. The socket set for rounded off bolts ended up working eventually, just had to get it on there really good.

I bought a 5 gallon hitachi air compressor I think the oil pan it had inside it might of been what your talking about however I have been dropping oil in all my tools before use any ways and this thing has made my life in the garage A LOT easier i can now cut things and it doesn’t take all day granted it was a good workout but man after a while my arms would really hurt a hacksaw just doesn’t cut it. So getting this air compressor is fun and the best tool investment I have ever made so far. I can now cut sheet metal with ease with my air tool cutter and do body work. tires come off in no time, just stick it on the lug nuts and pull the trigger on my impact gun and tire comes off with ease.

As for 1/2 to 3/8 adapters I think they are only good for me when I need to use one wrench on one side and another on the other side like for a bolt and nut that needs to be broken loose and I just don’t happen to have two 3/8″ drives since a socket starter set normally comes with a 1/2″ a 3/8″ and a 1/4″ drive and normally doesn’t come with two of the same type which is what I think the purpose is of the adapter existing in the first place. I don’t know but I’m pretty sure using a 1/2 drive on 3/8 inch sockets is not recommended. It is just torque overkill and a lot of times you will need a 3/8″ drive anyway because a 1/2 drive will have situations where it will not fit into an area that a 3/8″ drive would.

I could weld a socket to it then the plug has like a washer like surface around the head so it wouldn’t touch the pan and damage it. Or maybe i could find a nut to weld onto it like beefy said that sounds like the best idea at this point I think that’ll work and save me some time. I’ll just have to wait till I have the welder in 3 days.

is it possible to weld a cheap wrench to it to get it loose? like a box wrench that’s maybe just slightly too small for it and melt it to the plug? I don’t know i dont have a mig welder but I actually am getting one in 3 days just coincidentally. so maybe it will be useful here.

Yeah it surprised me too. I thought just a quick oil change piece of cake, And then what I thought was going to be an easy job turned into the worst oil change ever. I’m not really even sure how I managed to do it, I was just using a 1/2 inch socket on this 1/2 inch plug and I noticed it wasn’t giving so I put a little more strength into it and it slipped right off the plug and then it did it again and got worse until it didn’t grab it anymore. It really shouldn’t of been on that tight but maybe I got the wrong socket it could of been metric possibly but I remember it felt like it fit it properly before it stripped. I’m looking into the damaged bolt sockets college man posted they look like they might work but I don’t know maybe I should take a picture of the head of the bolt I’m trying to figure out if I either want to just cut the head off and I dont think its safe to drill the bolt because theres oil in it right so it can ignite maybe? Or use those sockets because if those work it’ll be a lot easier and I could use those sockets in the future. But ill get a picture of it I think. But if I just have to replace the pan I will

I’m turning counterclockwise I’ll try the pipe wrench and then if it doesn’t work ill grind off flat edges on the head and try it again some way some how I’m going to beat this thing. actually now that i think about useing a dye grinder i might be able to grind it back further to make more surface area that the pipe wrench could grip onto ill just have to make sure I don’t screw it up and it could work I think.

Thanks I needed to know that I was actually wondering if I needed heavier jack stands as well and you answered my question before I asked it haha. but yeah I’m done replacing the rotors calipers and pads on all four wheels now never seen what a whole new set looked like before on a truck its actually kind of cool to see shinny steel parts and not rust for a change on a vehicle. I’m also trying to restore everything and grind rust off of the entire frame of this thing. also just got the new park brake cable on it. now i just have exhaust, rocker panels sway bar bushings and lots of rust removing to do.
