      Hi Eric,

Love the shows, but here’s something maybe a little out of your comfort zone! 🙂

I have a Discovery 2 V8 (the 4.0 Litre) and the AC is very noticeable when engaged, the engine loses power and is gutless – some people have said the A/C pump could be faulty, either bearings or some sort of binding internally. Others have said the engine could be gutless anyway because of bad MAF sensor.

Without firing the parts cannon at it, what do you recommend to do to check this with basic tools? PS In Australia we are not allowed to self-service AC systems, so disconnecting hoses not an option 🙂

Thanks and have a great thanksgiving and Christmas!

        Thanks!

I do have one of those (Bluetooth version) but naturally assumed that those devices would only do the basic stuff, and the Delphi would do all that, plus many more (which it does on the Land Rover) – it was enough to get the code, however, and does allow me to clear all the fault codes, so hopefully that’s enough – still would be interested if anyone on these forums does GM products diagnosis and what scan tool (or tools!) they use.

          Hahahaha, very good andrewbutton442!

I think you’re confused on which guy founded the company – that guy in the picture is far too young and modern!

This is him – James Alexander Holden – Saddle Maker in Adelaide, South Australia in 1850’s

This is the actual type of car – you guys in the US might recognize it as some sort of Pontiac (later on a Chevy?)

I’m pretty sure though, all joking aside, that this vehicle should have exactly the same computer and diagnostics systems regardless of the badge or which side
the steering wheel is on (Right side is the correct side 😉 )

So, anyone in the US done diagnostics on these cars, what do you use?

          Cheers

          Darren
