The video did show me that it was possible to do without bending spacetime. I did get it eventually.

Here’s a tip I figured out. Loop the belt around everything and then behind the tensioner. That way you can still get a monkey wrench on the tensioner nut and then you just slip the belt forward.

I got the Torin 2 ton trolley jack and 3 ton jackstands.

I feel a world of possibilities opening before me….

If I’m only going to be lifting up the back,is a 2 ton jack enough? Once you get into 3 ton jacks the price rockets up.

I think the guy in the youtube comments was right.

I bought an ELM OBDII bluetooth reader for 10 dollars on E-bay. I bought the Torque app on google play, the full version, for 5 dollars (there is a free version).

15 dollars. It gives you all the realtime info this thing does. The only difference is that I’m not sure the Torque app looks up the code definitions, it might just give you the codes. BUT I had much less of a problem pairing the ELM scanner and my phone than Eric did with this Actron thing.

So 15 dollars versus 200 dollars. Someone is COMPLETELY ripping people off… and their name starts with “Actron”. I mean… seriously? That level of rip off is kind of criminal.

I haven’t checked the fluid since the summer, but then it was pink and had no burnt smell and was at the right level. The check engine light is not on and it shifts through all gears normally.

Except… now that I think about it… I have noticed that if I park on any kind of incline, even a sloped driveway, that it makes a thud when shifting into reverse to back out.

I’ll check the transmission fluid tomorrow.

Crap… sorry. It’s a 2003 PT Cruiser, limited edition with an automatic transmission. Has about 85,000 kilometers on it, so about 53,000 miles.

I put in full synthetic just before it got cold.

I was kind of wondering if the trickle charger or the warmers would be a better investment. They’re about the same price.

I live where it is super cold. Many nights it is around -30 degrees celcius.

I’m wondering if anyone has used the warming pads you can plug in like a block heater but for oil pans or batteries and how well they work.

I think there’s a Wolverine brand that makes them, but there are also others.

                                  Thanks
