Thanks! I don’t know what all he did to check the compression. I will try to do a compression check with oil in the cylinders. I just shoot it down the spark plug hole? How much? Hopefully it’s the head gasket or the valves. They’d be the easiest to replace/ repair.

I have decided not to buy the truck. If the body was in better shape I would risk having to replace the engine but it looks like it’s been wrecked in the front end. Thanks everybody for your feedback. And thanks a lot Eric for checking these forums and replying. I love watching your videos. I had actually watched all of the parts of the Sonoma replacement. I think I’ve watched almost all of your YouTube videos.

Thanks. I’m not sure whether or not I want to risk the engine being damaged.

For what it’s worth once on a mercury sable that I had it would shake and hesitate badly whenever I applied the gas. Especially when going up hills. I thought I had a bad transmission but I took it to a mechanic I really liked and he figured out that I had bad input shaft seals. I think they’re the seal right behind the axels where they go into the transmission. He said they weren’t so much leaking a lot of fluid while driving but they were sucking in air which I guess was messing with the hydraulic pressure in the tranny. (Which as etcg has pointed out in his transmission videos is very important to proper transmission function.) this may be a place to look at. Having said that I have no idea what kind of wobbling you’re experiencing. If it’s shaking then that’s the kind of symptoms I was having. Hopefully this might help a little. And I understand wanting to work on your own vehicle to learn and gain experience. This is the main reason I love working on mine. So what if I replace something that wasn’t actually the cause. I learned a lot in the process. But hopefully it did fix the problem lol so I don’t waste any money
