I have a simular problem with my ’01 Impala. However, mine isn’t random stalling it’s stalling out upon starting after driving it. to prevent it from stalling out I give it gas and it stays running. It is not throwing codes as the CEL is not on however I too suspect the fuel filter in both our cases. Mine has the 3.8L My question is where is the fuel filter?

Sounds like to me from your last post that it could be a bad MAF. they are pretty inexpensive so you wouldn’t be out much by just replacing it. Fuel Filters also are inexpensive. replacing those two things should fix it.

Also you do most likely have the GM’s Ignition Switch recall on it. I am not sure if that effected the 3.4Ls I am waiting for my appointment at the dealer to get my recalls done and I will see after that if the problems for me persist. Do let me know if you find a fix for it as I will look into it as a possible cause for me assuming that the recalls don’t clear it up.
Thanks for the warm welcomes. Matt, that definitely is just like me. Thanks for the recommendation on getting a socket set. I had actually ended up purchasing a Craftsman 58 piece (metric/engish) set a few months ago so It’s good to know that I probably made a good choice..

I’m not going to be doing anything professionally, so that would work best for me rather than spending a bunch of money in air or electric powered tools.
Before this account gets banned by ToyotaKarl I thought i would add something to this. I mentioned the socket set be also failed to mention other neccessities such as ramps to drive up on and/or jack stands. I do not have jack stands myself i have not had a need for them yet. I do have ramps however. I also do not not have a jack but the factory scissor jack that comes with vehicles has worked just fine for me when the need to jack up the car rises.
