noob to ECU stuff and car computers…Um whats PCM??
it stands for power control module. It’s your vehicles main computer. There are other names for it as well, ECU=electronic control unit, ECM=” ” module, PCU=power control unit. this computer controls a lot of the main functions of your car. Without it, you won’t even be able to start the car.
I love both of my breaker bars. They have never failed me. I have a 1/2″ and 3/8″ drive breaker bars from Harbor Freight. I had them for a while and they are pretty good. Still have a lot more use out of them. I also have a 3 ton floor jack from HF as well. I love it. Great price for a great jack.
I was referring to the mounting surface of the rotor where it contacts the hub and where the wheel sits :)
Ok, there goes my dumb moment of the week. Lol.

If you’re looking for a good quality and reliable air compresor, then you have to spend a lot of money. I wouldn’t suggest harbor freight. Their compresors work for a few mins, then you have to wait for it to build up pressure again. If all you’re doing is changing tires, then you might get away with buying their higher priced compresors ($350+). If you go on their website, check out each compresors 5 star rating and customer reviews. I alwas check those out before buying something I haven’t tried.
Well i got to test the ECT sensor today and that works. I noticed today the temp gauge on the dash was pegged on Cold. Whats up with that? I also noticed it has a hard start/ long crank time before it would start after i would drive it. Almost like it was flooded. Also another is that it will only hesitate when just cruising down the road under light throttle, don’t notice under acceleration. I still have to check some other things out but ran out of time today.
It sounds like it might be some connection issues with the BCM or ground connections.
I use it to clean the rust and corrosion off the hubs as well as cleaning up the caliper brackets where the hardware goes while doing brake jobs. Its quicker thank using a wire brush.
For tire work, i use it for cleaning the inside of the rim where the bead of the tire sits.
I will use it also for making sure there is no rust on the inside and outside of the rotors/drums before mounting them to our brake lathe seeing as its critical for a flat surface seeing as rust looks like mountains under a microscope.
Depending on the job will dictate what grade of disc to use.
Oh ok. I usually let the lathe take off the rust on rotors or drums. Then I do a final slow pass.
Some scan tools will show ‘pending’ codes as well as hard faults.
Is that what your referring to?
That’s exactly what I thought. What made me question this though is when for example I’ll pull a code lets say P0301, then there will be another code P0301 Pd. So I find myself asking, do I have a misfire in cylinder one? Or are there some problems that I need to take care of so I don’t have a misfire in cylinder one? Hence the pending. I don’t know.

You need to bring back those wires where you bought them from and either exchange them for a new set or get your money back and buy a different set somewhere else.
